Jas Kelly Co and Chas F Davison announce new equipment including an improved casket lowering device and a pair of horses. Office and showrooms on Prince Street opposite the Baptist Church with 24 hour call service. Telephones 289 and 192. June 6.
The Charlottetown Board of Trade meeting revealed frank criticism of the proposed railway station site. Hon Mr Emmerson indicated a bias toward George Street despite high costs and objections to Prince Street and Hillsboro Street options. He warned the budget pressures and political costs, arguing the people’s wishes should guide the site choice.
The Board of Trade endorsed delaying a new station indefinitely unless authorities consent to move it west of the current site. The piece notes sympathy from Hon. Mr. Emmerson for a constant steam connection between island and mainland railway systems, arguing a tunnel link would erase deficits and lift incomes without extra cost. It criticizes crooked Island Railway routes, high passenger and freight rates, and three short-haul charges to mainland points, urging a faster, fairer connection.
An advertisement extols Ferrozone as a cure for headaches by nourishing blood and revitalizing nerves and brain. It promises relief from headaches and warns of stomach kidney and liver effects without Ferrozone. Schedule lists trips to Orwell West River East River Crap and Saturday from port locations. Round trip fares 25 to 40 cents with times Wednesday Thursday Friday and Saturday noted.
The Tea party of St Johns Church Cra pand will be held at Victoria on Aug 10 1905. Worths Band will provide music with round trip and dinner on grounds. The W M S of Victoria plans a garden party on Friday evening at James Len Rays grounds offering ice cream cake coffee and various refreshments at regulation prices from 7 to 11 pm.
A promotional notice quotes Mrs M E Legere praising Dr Hamiltons Pills for biliousness and sick headache. The ad claims frequent bilious attacks stop after use and recommends the remedy for all ages. It lists price 25c per box or five boxes for $1.00 and directs readers to druggists.
An old advertisement lists Invictus shoes for men from Alley & Co Charlottetown agents. It also promotes Comphorated chalk and teeth cleaning products by A W Reddin at The Square Drugpist, with various weights and Charlottetown agents noted.
