Marvelous track laying machine in Cascade yards

The Record details George Roberts’s patented track layer first used in 1887 by the Northern Pacific near Spokane. Only five remain in use across Dakota, Arkansas, Idaho, and Arizona. The machine, with an upright Nagel engine on a flat car, speeds steel and tie handling with coordinated trams and crews.
