Board met on Saturday and considered the plan for stock yards on a main sale route, noting the yard at Cowra’s importance for moving stock and pondering a potential precedent.
The Royal Agricultural Society Field Wheat Championship in the Central Western division concluded with Ford as the standout variety across the rival districts from Quandialla to Coonabarabran. Judge E S Clayton noted Ford dominated six times and the overall average yield was 37 bushels. London auctions opened with a 15 to 29 percent advance and premiums for fine crossbreds. Demand was strong with Japanese buyers active. the overall clearance reached about 95 percent though some lines were withdrawn for doubtful yield.
The wool season shows strong demand from Yorkshire and brisk Japanese orders, with Continental buyers like France showing rising turnover. French and Belgian activity improved in September, while French fabrics trade remains limited by duties and exchange rates. Despite monetary tensions, confidence grew as global depression fears faded, supplies remained tight, and prospects for a sustained high demand for wool remained favorable.
