Henry Kloth and Gustaf Kloth former Alexandra hotel proprietors at Warman Saskatoon were arrested and moved to Brandon for internment with other prisoners of war. They were escorted by Sergeant Bel Cher of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police from Rosthern. They faced suspicions of flight to St Paul and possible contact with the German consul. They had been under police surveillance since the war began and recently sought Manitoba leave to rent a farm. Authorities intensified inquiries leading to their arrest and probable detention for the war duration.
R. J. Daley, publicity commissioner for Alberta, returns from a two months campaign in Ontario and parts of Michigan. He visited farm districts to inform experienced farmers with capital about opportunities in the west and distributed literature and maps on Alberta city towns and farm districts.
