In the Surrogate’s Court of York County officials filed notes on pending matters within the district. Proceedings reference estates and guardianships with filings across multiple divisions and dates. Pending actions include probate claims and counsel assignments for unnamed heirs.
Local residents from Verigin and surrounding areas visited town Friday and Sunday. Mildred Sutherland travelled to Winnipeg for a two week stay. Annie Sinnott went to Grandview for several weeks. The Winnipeg Oil Co completed erection of new oil and gasoline tanks here. Rev. Smith left for Moose Jaw Conference for about ten days. Weather brought rain on Sunday night and Monday. Mrs. VanCamp of Regina traveled through town en route to Dauphin. Con. A. Bunts and Mrs. Blakely spent Sunday/Monday in town. M. Foster, promoted to Lieutenant in the 212th Battalion, was in town en route Elfres.

Items include Wadena parade sendoff, a scaffold accident, anniversaries, and wartime relief donations from the Canora Patriotic Society.

Minutes noted unpaid accounts and Darrach appointed as interim president for three months. The Chief ensured enforcement of the Lord's Day Act. The 1915 business tax for Dredderspoon was remitted as compensation for extra services related to tax arrears enforcement.
At Yorkton on May 25 the Supreme Court sat and ruled on local cases. King vs Metro Kalys ended with a retrial on a charge with a suspended sentence. the jury found common assault and the accused received eleven months with hard labor. E L Sates and E L McLaren defended. Bune was found not guilty on a theft charge. E McLaren acted for the accused.
Earl Kitchener and his staff were drowned west of the Orkneys after the H M S Hampshire struck a mine while sailing to Russia. The ship carried about 500 crew members and all are feared lost.
A massive tornado tore across multiple counties killing more than fifty people and wounding hundreds. Officials estimate extensive property damage and widespread destruction across the affected areas.
German high seas fleet engaged British cruiser squadron in a day long battle in the North Sea. German losses included 16 ships and about 7,200 men. British losses 14 ships and about 5,703 men. Over 150 ships fought, eight German warships fled to Danish waters.
The report notes extensive crop damage in Germany due to recent storms and floods. It also mentions rail construction delays in Western Canada due to a shortage of steel rails. A new German invention is described as 750 feet long with the ability to ascend 15 000 feet, and an 18-ol4 Vancouver incendiary is blamed for property destruction totaling about five hundred thousand dollars.
