The first party of Australian dependants arrived in Singapore from Djakarta amid unrest. Wives reported being glad to be out, with little notice given and a two hour wait at the airport. They voiced hopes to return soon while noting looting near British homes.
British evacuees arrived in Singapore as Jakarta faced rioting after the burning of the British Embassy. Police were ordered to shoot if violence worsened while Soekarno toured damage and regional leaders eyed a possible summit amid Malaysia tensions.
President Ramon Villeda Morales said Honduran Air Force planes struck various guerrilla camps in the Patuca River area. Foreign diplomats were briefed as United Press International reported the action.
Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman personally intervened to secure the release of three hostages held by demonstrators at the home of the former Indonesian Ambassador. He escorted the hostages from the residence with their leaders, and all were freed unharmed.

Illness forces the Prime Minister to cancel attendance at the Canberra Lake Dam ceremony. The event will be led by the Minister for the Interior Mr Freeth. The dam will begin storing water to Lake Burley Griffin with an expected cost of 700,000 and open day plans for the public tomorrow.
Mr. Holt announced the decimal currency in Australia to begin February 1966 will use the normal dollar sign with an A after it to distinguish the Australian dollar. The government chose dollar instead of Royal as the major unit for simplicity and Australian character.
