Commonwealth nations agreed to further discussions after Britain’s bid to join the Common Market was outlined in a 10 day debate. The communique said talks may occur at official, diplomatic, or ministerial levels.
Commonwealth leaders urge Britain to preserve cohesion and safeguard interests as negotiations with the Brussels talks proceed. They stress Britain must consider other Commonwealth views and aim for terms that do not weaken unity while pursuing possible entry.
