Fraser rejects referendum on uranium mining export

The Prime Minister Mr Fraser rejected a call by ACTU president Mr Hawke for a referendum on uranium mining and export. Fraser said the government examined Fox reports and Ranger inquiries and would not bow to pressure. Hawke warned of blood on the streets and urged the public to decide by referendum, pledging union support for the result.

ACOA in favour of poll over uranium policy

Medibank to Build ACT Headquarters in Woden

The Health Insurance Commission will use Medibank Private funds to finance a $4.6 million 14 level building in Woden Town Centre near the Department of Health to house about 350 staff. Construction to start in November and finish early 1979, aimed at cost containment and efficiency with design by Jackson Teece Chesterman Willis and project management by Matrian Construction Management.
