The State Full Court refused to intervene. The Executive Council orders execute Tait at 8 a m Thursday. Justice Dean ruled tonight the judge had no power to grant a reprieve.
The High Court faces two motions as Justices debate a lunacy inquiry under the Mental Hygiene Act into Tait's sanity and a reprieve. Justice Smith contests limits on executive powers while other judges consider the fate of a 38 year old Scottish born miner condemned for murder. The Executive Council postponed the October 22 hanging pending the court’s action and Privy Council appeal was rejected.
The Prime Minister Mr Menzies joined guests at the New Zealand High Commissioner's residence to bid farewell to Dr Donald Cameron the Australian High Commissioner designate. Cameron who served as Health Minister for nearly six years lost his Oxley Queensland seat at the last election.
Brigadier-General Suadi the Indonesian Ambassador to Australia and his attache Sumaryo Suryokusumo were injured when their diplomatic car overturned near Holbrook. Both were admitted to Wagga Base Hospital with a broken forearm and facial injuries. They were described as in a comfortable condition. They were en route from Canberra to Melbourne for Colombo Plan Conference arrangements on November 12.
Nine bookmakers from Canberra and Queanbeyan were suspended under Regulation 17A for attending a greyhound meeting at Queanbeyan on Caulfield Cup Day while a galloping meeting occurred 90 miles away at Boorowa. They must seek permission to field within 110 miles of residence. an appeal is possible.

An exile leader said Alpha 66 commandos had landed in Cuba fighting regular troops. Geronimo Esteves could not confirm location or size. He said attacks on ships would continue and doubted Soviet missiles would be withdrawn. The exile community hoped the US blockade would trigger an invasion to end Castro regime.
