Migrant women and children visit Yarra Jamis wool shed
About 40 migrant women and children viewed shearing and wool handling at the Yarra Jamis woolshed yesterday. They watched shed hand R Webster trampling fleeces into new rakes. The visit was arranged by the Migrant Sub-Committee of the Victoria League. Attending were Mrs G Wren and her sons Timothy and Paul, Mrs A Colson and Wendy, Mrs K Dukes and Wendy, Mrs E Wilkinson and David.

SCHOONER MORD Crouch CREW MISSING AFTER SINKING
A land sea and air search is abandoned at dawn for the crew of the 165 ton schooner Mord Crouch after it foundered near Cowell. Only one seaman Ian Hickman survives, pulled from a lifeboat by the ketch Hawk, as wreckage is spotted miles offshore with no other survivors found.

Two Women Escapees Still At Large
Patricia Wini fred Smith aged 22 and Noeline Joy Frame aged 19 escaped from huts in the honour section of the prison. They used a sheet and underwear rope to scale a 10 ft wall then attempted to burrow under the perimeter. Long Bay Gaol Inquiry Extended After Warder Charges
After a full day session at Long Bay Gaol the board charged five warders with misconduct and neglect. Two warders were found guilty of neglect with extenuating circumstances and severely censured. The board will decide on two more warders and suspend one others. a temporary officer faced no dismissal action. Sweeney QC represented suspended officers and the temporary sallicer at the inquiry with appeal rights available if fined or dismissed.
