Man for whom history waited collects official history
Mr Noel Carroll ordered the Official History of the 41 4 18 War from the Australian War Memorial in June 1948 and collected it yesterday. He arranged for payment through public service pay so the rate could be drawn, a fortnightly deduction. The volume on air force participation is valued at about 150 pounds. He stored one book at the Australian Embassy in Bonn and two others remain in storage due to display space lacking. The director of the microfilm service and the memorial staff sought to help, leading to the decision to keep Carroll’s books in storage until display space is found.
