Reports from Beirut say Israeli aircraft bombed Damascus suburbs and Meissa Jum region on the Damascus Beirut highway. An Aranda motorist bought a new car on August 24 but kept it only seven days in his possession during the first 30 days. The rest of the time the vehicle was under repair. After unsuccessful attempts to remedy the fault at the dealer, the chief head was shaved in an effort to rectify the problem. The car had travelled unknown miles and was refused.
The motorist contacted Voters' Voice which contacted manufacturers. They replied that repairs brought the car back to standard factory condition. With 10 months remaining on the warranty, the owner's interests were fully covered.
The Law Reform Commission of the ACT proposes simplified procedures in the Canberra Court of Petty Sessions for civil claims up to 300 dollars. The plan would allow claimants to proceed without lawyers, with court staff assisting in preparation and magistrates ensuring full participation by both sides. The report, tabled in the Senate by Attorney General Greenwood, notes the current limit is 1000 dollars and suggests raising it toward 5000 dollars, extending more Supreme Court practices to Petty Sessions where feasible.
