Victoria reportedly declined to resume immigration as Canberra presses for a return to larger migration. Officials protect the single Commonwealth reply, while other states await responses amid plans to expand immigration staff and office space.
In Sydney Friday the State Cabinet approved higher dole rates starting November. Singles rise from 6/6 to 7/6, couples from 10/8 to 14/, man and wife with one child from 16/ to 10/.
