British Warships To Visit Israel

British forces announce an operational visit to Israel with four destroyers and a frigate due Haifa in late October. The ships Duchess, Diamond, Solebay, Hogue and the frigate Umdine 9 are expected to reach Haifa on October 24 and sail for Syria soon after.

Death of Mr. Robert Ewing in Melbourne

The death occurred in Melbourne yesterday of Mr. Robert Ewing former Commissioner of Taxation. Born at East Maitland in 1871 he was educated at Sydney High School and spent seven years in journalism before joining the NSW Taxation Department. He became Commissioner in 1917 and retired in 1939.
