Canberra public complaints led the Federal Commission to press NSW Railway Commissioners after Parliament rejected a late night Sydney to Canberra train. The 11.10 pm service was cancelled from October 10 while negotiations continue and a definite outcome is expected soon.
In the House today the Prime Minister Mr Bruce stated that no further action had been taken regarding the scheme for artificial lakes in Canberra, clarifying no progress has occurred on the matter. The exchange addressed the government’s stance and anticipated steps.
Representatives of the Nation Prohibition groups will convene in Canberra on Optohi 18 for a two day gathering including Rev. C H Foraman and Messrs Arthur Tromben W F Finlayson H B Francis J E James A Keeling. A Tuesday evening social gathering will launch the No License League for the Capital Territory with Mr Y E Stanton arranging details.
Public meeting at Acton Hall Monday evening will feature Rev James Barr MP speaking on Canberra's Dry Ordinance in light of Beattish experience. The Friendly Societies Council seeks a modification of the ILMA agreement affecting branches in New South Wales and the Canberra Territory. It argues the current terms penalize members by denying medical home benefits to those earning over £200 per month and that many Canberra members exceed 15 a week, altering eligibility for ethical benefits.

Nine marriages occurred in the Territory. In the Monaro district excluding the Territory birth tallies at Queanbeyan were eighty eight with forty nine males and thirty eight females. Deaths totalled twenty two and seventeen marriages were recorded at Queanbeyan.
The Federal Capital Commission increased employment by 114 in September reaching 2 291 workers. The gain came from expanded tree planting sewerage work at Eastlake and weed destruction. Department totals: Engineer 1102 Building Construction 341 Lands 3065 Stores and Misc 245.
The Federal Treasurer Dr. Earle Page moves to amend the Commonwealth Bank Act to expand a 20 million pound housing plan. The Rural Credits Department serves primary producers, with savings funds directed to loans for home buying and new housing, including Canberra.

The film features grand sequences such as The Mass of Bethlehem The Galley Fight and The Chariot Race and has run fifteen weeks at Strines Kedveard Theatre with strong demand in America and Australia. Queanbeyan reports a new building value of £416,016 from June 1925 to September 30, 1927, a record for any Australian country town in the period. The figure excludes smaller projects under £100 and alterations to existing structures.
