Truck Blast Burns Two Start Forest Fire Near Cods Harbour
In Grafton a truck rolled downhill crashing into a tree on a hill in Wedding Bell Forest west of Olgooiga. Driver Leslie Railey 24 and his father Albert 60 suffered severe burns and were taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital after the tank exploded burning two acres before firefighters contained the blaze. The truck was destroyed.

Bush fire rages across Queensland stock and Caldervale stations
Firefighters fled as wind drove flames across two firebreaks southeast of Tambo Queensland. Forty men battled an 80 mile front threatening the Downs sheep country while cattle country sustained light losses. The blaze burned about 1106 square miles of Stocke station and two thirds of Caldervale station.
