Four die in Gippsland school bus crash in Victoria

In wet conditions at Newborough Gippsland two school buses collided killing four people including Moe teens Paul Wright 14 Gregory Olsen 14 and Shane Plautz 16 and supervisor Mrs Carol Warford 50. Two boys 13 and 14 and Michael Gaffa 14 remained seriously or critically injured. about 40 children were ambulanced to Moe hospitals.

Hijacked Caravelle Flight From Paris To Lyons

A lone gunman hijacked a twin-jet Caravelle from Paris to Lyons. A French stewardess was shot in the arm, the plane returned to Paris and circled Orly for 90 minutes before landing. The wounded hostess and six passengers, including a child, were allowed to leave. about 93 passengers and seven crew were aboard. The hijacker was described as tall with blonde hair, about 45, carrying a pistol and hand grenade. Police guarded the isolated aircraft.

Japanese airliner to fly to Dacca for hostage release

The Japanese Transport Ministry said a JAL DC-8 carrying six prisoners and 4–6 million would depart Tokyo at 2100 GMT to secure hostages held at Dacca Airport by urban guerrillas. The flight comes one hour before the guerrillas set a deadline for delivery of their colleagues and the cash. Four more freed.
