Plotters sent to gaol in Greece

Two self confessed Communists were sentenced to life imprisonment by an Athens court martial for plotting to overthrow the military backed regime. Dimitrios Benas 44 a clerk and Eleftherios Kolovos 57 a mathematics professor were found guilty of seeking to replace the regime with a Communist style administration. Benas charged also with detonating a bomb in November 1967 that killed a woman in central Athens. Leonidas Yanakopoulos was jailed 10 years and Stavros Pantazopoulos five years seven months in exile. Thirty six people face similar charges and are being tried in 14 groups. trials expected to last several days.

Causeway to get proper street names in Canberra
