Canberra to conduct a house to house census on June 29 with all residents counted. Treasurer McMahon announced the 1961 and 1966 censuses showed population growth and the new tally is expected to exceed 100,000, aiding ACT planning and capital development authorities.
A National Capital Development Commission survey team is examining widening Adelaide Avenue to a dual carriageway during the 1967 68 financial year. Saigon reports a US military spokesman states 337 American troops were killed in heavy fighting in Vietnam that week, raising total combat deaths to 10,253 and wounded to 42,5. The previous weekly high was 274 killed and 1,748 wounded. Enemy casualties were listed at 2,464 for the week. An unofficial tally cited a weekly enemy kill record of 2,774 ending March 25.
