Khrushchev at British Fair Sees Heavy Industry Balance
Khrushchev, in a dark suit with medals, toured a garden reception near a government guest house at the British Fair. He said Russia must first build a heavy industry base before consumer goods, and will push both heavy and light industries at the same pace. He praised British goods but warned large-scale buyers that buying only from Russia would be wasteful, urging mutual trade and warning against unnecessary purchases. He claimed Russia lacks hard currency but has abundant raw materials and skilled workers.
