Impressive rehearsals for Canberra pageant
The pageant rehearsals on Wednesday and yesterday at the Review Ground thrill a large crowd despite a cold south wind. The Governor-General Lord Btone haven and Minister Hon C W C Marr watched as troops, naval units, and the Air Force practiced moves for Monday’s grand display. War Relic German Naval Gun Removal to Station
The Krupp gun, a World War I trophy captured by Australian troops in France, was moved this week to a new position at the railway station. A special line had to be built for the move, with about 40 men under Colonel I P Owen directing the effort. The gun weighs over 100 tons and was originally an easyl gun mounted on a railway undercarriage for long range field use.
