Wool Prices Marketing Scheme Criticised During War Debate
During the Address In Reply in the House of natives last night Mr Wilson (Ind. C.P.) attacked wartime primary industry schemes. He said the country acquisition and pool market left wheat growers worse off than the open market and wool growers cheated by the wool agreement. He noted wool prices were up to 50 cent lower than in other countries and that Britain profits from wool sales to Australia were being evaded. He urged the government to fix a guaranteed minimum price for wheat and advance 1d a bushel on acquired wheat.
