Italian news agency reports intense diplomacy in Helsinki and Stockholm aimed at an early armistice. One faction seeks an honorable peace through mediation while another pressures continued fighting with hopes of foreign backing. Rumors swirl in European capitals about potential peace moves.
Reports say Russia seeks annexation of the Karelian Isthmus and Lake Ladoga including Viipuri with a naval base at Naga and wants Petsamo.
