Judgment against poultry farmer and related damages
The High Court of Australia delivered a judgment this week over a Canberra poultry farmer who refused levy payments under the Poultry Industry Act 1965 66 and challenged the levy authority. Mr Justice Taylor found the act valid and that poultry farmers in the ACT were not represented on the council, but evidence did not show a loss to the Crown. The case also involved claims against Concrete Services and Clemplant Pty Ltd with cross claims and future liability decisions.
