Burns defeated Canberra 6 to 2 while Molonglo and Queanbeyan played a 2-2 draw in the Canberra Queanbeyan district soccer competition. A tough match at Queanbeyan’s Wennbevan Park featured strong defense by Young and Shaw and notable saves.
A theft report lists knitted woolen items including a frogka and pillow sling valued at 129, plus an overcoat. The property belonged to William Ernest Wood and Slayes and Russell. A person named Thoms was involved. the items were found yesterday in an unspecified place.
A coroner ruled the death of Moe un Acie pun as a suicide caused by self drowning near Flan in Mullero Cook. The inquest, led by John Cale, cited the deceased’s unsound mind and noted no trace found at the scene despite search efforts by Constable Wyle and others. A ticketed union membership was referenced in unrelated local notes.

Federal Capital Commission considers a new Canberra Queanbeyan road to handle heavy traffic. Construction is expected in the coming financial year starting July 1. Goulburns oldest newspaper the Herald will stop after next Thursday as proprietors Southern Morning Herald and Daniel Brothers join to publish a daily under Goulburn Peg Post. The town will have one paper after decades with two. Also noted is a new electric prospecting instrument used by the Ontario Department of Mines to indicate gold deposits for surveying known grou s.
The body urged support to help the Commission assess community requests in municipal affairs. The session failed to pass the proposed alteration but attendees agreed to attend the annual meeting in force to influence the final decision.
Federal Rovers beat West Queanbeyan 30 points to 10 to retain the Tully Cup. Both sides produced a rough first half with Rovers gaining the lead after halftime and boosting the score through tries by Bethel Hammond Tontau and Manko, with Schumack converting several, as West Queanbeyan struggled to close the gap.
In Queanbeyan Police Court Helen Barton admitted driving an unregistered car, claiming it was her second car not in use and recently repaired. She was fined 10 shillings and costs. her license was endorsed for the promotion. John Eamond fined 10 shillings with 6 shillings 6pence costs for buying a car without seven days transfer notice, license endorsed. Arthur W Atkinson fined 8 shillings with costs for not notifying motor car sale.
Acton defeated West Queanbeyan by 18 points to 3 at Manuka Oval on Saturday in a pre Tully Cup clash. Acton used ten men, with F Caldwin scoring the team's only try.
Acton Rugby League Juniors won two matches during the week end. On Saturday they defeated Hall reserve grade at Haji by 1 point to nil with Aycliffe and Dalton scoring tries and Harrington and ONeill kicking goals. On Sunday they beat the Yasa Waratahs by 14 to 2 as Leech, Bolton and Walton contributed tries and goals for Acton while Wheeler added a goal for Yasa.
Constable Imrie described Edward Barrett driving at high speed across Crawford Street narrowly missing a collision. Barrett showed signs of intoxication with several passengers in the car. The vehicle, registered in March, had no NEw license as he only held a Victorian one. He was fined and costs or a month in prison for driving without a teenar. A week earlier Thomas Eric Keefe faced a similar offence and was fined with a month’s imprisonment option.
In a Saturday poll under the Local Government Act the Goulburn electorate rejected the Shoalhaven water supply plan. The Shoalhaven scheme would impose 1/4d in the pound on unimproved land, vs 1d for the Hooley plan, with estimated capital costs of £556,000 and annual charges of £48,000, while Pejar and Booley schemes offered different costs and rates. The final tally: Shoalhaven 271, Booley 212, Pejar 231, with ongoing discussions over Public Works Department concurrence and financing.
