Butter, coal rationing dominance hit Sydney and Brisbane

In Sydney the Joint Coal Board announced immediate drastic coal rationing for industrial users including railways and steel, with a 24 hour electricity ban and cuts from 4 to 30 percent. The measure aims to avert a power breakdown, with 2000 tons rushing to Bunnerong power house and potential domestic supply cuts if needed. In Brisbane butter rationing was urged to end, with industry leaders arguing shortages and world prices justify ending controls and seeking better supplies of galvanized iron and dairy inputs.
