Canberra Plans a National Theatre Complex
A 1950s Canberra Commission recommends a National Theatre and allied cultural facilities including a concert hall for 1200, a repertory theatre, an exhibition gallery, and a smaller venue for 200 to 80 patrons. The plan anticipates a civic precinct with the new Civic Centre pool and ample parking, backed by extensive hearings from local organizations and architects.
