Blinded In Sea Of Light Driver Testifies At Inquest
In Canberra a resumed inquest into the death of Andrew Cummins a 72 year old pensioner heard the driver Rog ers describe the crash on Kings Avenue near the memorial. He said he was dazzled by oncoming headlights three times and was blinded by a high beam as he came over a hill. Cummins was about 10 to 13 feet beyond the rise when struck. Rogers noted his speed was about 16 miles an hour and he braked, stopping four to five feet from Cummins. The hearing will resume on June 27.

Crossin case reports guilty plea and bail for Nicholls
Mr D J Crossin Nicholls pleaded guilty to theft of clothing and personal effects valued at 2613 belonging to Ernest Lenane. He was granted bail of £20 and ordered to report daily at 6 pm to the police station. Police found items in Nicholls car after a patrol spotted him near Hatsl Canberra. Lenane identified the stolen goods and Nicholls later admitted being at pubs.

Grants include the Lady Leite Scholarship £700, the Ida Smedley Maclean International Fellowship £850, and American Association of University Women fellowships $2000 to $2500.
