A faint radio call picked up by the Royal Flying Doctor Service alerts to four Port Augusta men trapped in the Simpson Desert 70 kilometres west of Birdsville. Their two ex Army four wheel drive jeeps are near fuel exhaustion after two weeks from Alice Springs. Police say the men have food and water. a private aircraft with Constable Thomas will land near the vehicles to assist. Names of the four men were not released.
