Canberra Jaycee Chapter Emerges After Early Setbacks
An early attempt to form a Canberra Jaycee Chapter in 1954 failed due to the sponsoring Sydney Chapter’s remoteness. Sydney reps visited Canberra to recruit locals but could not guide the group, which faded until a 1959 effort led by Ron Drover of Goulburn and his team succeeded with support from The Canberra Times and 2CA. Sir John Crawford spoke at the inaugural dinner in August 1959.
