Eichmann Hanged and Ashes Cast Into Sea

Adolf Eichmann was hanged last night in Israel and cremated today. His ashes were scattered at sea aboard an Israeli police boat after a government announce ment. The former Nazi official, who oversaw the final solution, declined mercy and made defiant statements.

Queen Grants 12 New Knights In Birthday Honours

The Queen named 12 Australians to new knighthoods and elevated a Victorian cabinet minister in the birthday honours. Across the nation honours recognize services to Australia at home and abroad. The Governor of South Australia, Sir Eric Bastyan, and British High Commissioner Sir William Oliver receive higher knighthood orders.

Australians receive imperial honours in Commonwealth Relations list

The Commonwealth Relations list includes multiple Australians promoted to KCMG KBE and other orders. Frederick White becomes KBE, Air Marshal Walston Hancock rises to KBE, Bar den Pattinson and Arthur Warner receive honours, plus four more Australians gain K or CBE. Three sports figures also noted with OBEs and CMGs among business and public service appointees.

Tragic Eichmann Trial Shocks Israeli Faith Leader

The Rev H Harrison in Israel on the trial's opening day described the case as profoundly tragic noting the central figure as a human being. Australian cook earns British Empire Medal in Birthday Honours

Sergeant Arthur Leslie Puckeridge from Baulkham Hills Sydney received the British Empire Medal for valuable services as a cook. He rose through Catering Corps to Warrant Officer Caterer and cooked tirelessly at annual camps, ensuring good meals regardless of time or weather.
