Boys build own digital computer for science prize

Richard Swan and Jeremy Stanners, aged 15 and 14, from Telopea Park High School, built a tactile logic machine to play noughts and crosses and convert currency to 10 decimals. They designed a full electrical computer after being urged to try a tougher project and won one of four major Science and Industry Endowment Fund prizes.

Canberra Monaro Area Scout Council considers spending nearly £25 000 to develop a Scout village at the camping reserve by the Coffer River. Typist attacked outside Lane Cove home in Sydney

Miss Elizabeth Ann Shepherd a 36 year old typist in the Maher case testified she was assaulted and slashed as she left her home at 7 30 pm to visit her mother. She was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital with shoulder wounds and later discharged. Police noted the attack occurred near her Lane Cove residence amid ongoing Vietnam war reporting.

Rescuer badly hurt in snow at Charlotte Pass

COOMA Monday. The chair-lift operator John Irvenette about 24 of Maroubra Sydney was critically injured today while attempting to rescue Peter Meir about 25 of Adelaide who had crawled half a mile after breaking his ankle on the first stage of the Charlotte Pass chair lift. Both men in Cooma Hospital. Irvenette with fractured thigh and facial lacerations. Meir’s condition satisfactory.

Violence in Jerusalem Wounds Several as Shots Ring Out

Foreign capital paper backs Australian investment stance
