The body of Miss Christine Collins, 24, of Sydney, was found in a creek near Thredbo skiing area at 1:30am. She had wandered off to take photographs while skiing with two companions who alerted police when she failed to return to their lodge in Thredbo Village.

July day hottest on record in Canberra area
A Canberra region spokesman for the ACT Bureau of Meteorology said Saturday set a new July daily high, with a maximum of 16.7 degrees, off 17.8 degrees and the hottest since weather records began in 1939.
