Girls from Telopea Park and Cootamundra High Schools played a brisk tunnel ball match yesterday in Canberra. Visiting Cootamundra challenged Telopea Park for the Waratah Shield with both teams featured in the contest.
The defence minister announced that Australia would replace earlier jets with Sabre aircraft and order 12 Lockheed C130 transports. A US technical mission will visit to assess Australian capacity to manufacture 105 mm howitzers and ammunition and to review broader defence equipment programs under SEATO commitments.
Sydney reports two new large power stations planned for the northern coalfields at an estimated cost around 1.7 million pounds. Rodney Dee Brodle, the first person to survive separation of the head joined siamese twins, is reportedly well enough to forego further medical treatment. His mother says Rodney, now five, continues to improve at home in Chicago.

The U S cost of living rose again in June marking the tenth consecutive monthly gain. The Labour Department’s price index climbed to 120.2 percent of the 1947-49 base, an all time high.
