Deputy Soviet Foreign Minister Valerian Zorin said the three power nuclear test ban talks with Russia Britain and the United States were proceeding satisfactorily. He told a Western reporter that progress was being made in the discussions.
The second day of Geneva talks opened with Soviet Foreign Minister Gromyko at the helm as delegates gathered in the Foreign Ministry. British Lord Hailsham and US Harriman met to gauge whether Krushchev would pursue a partial test ban separate from other negotiations. A lighter mood persisted with occasional humor as the round-table discussions focused on nuclear tests and mutual interests.

The Canberra branch of the Commonwealth Employment Service reported 307 people unemployed on June 28, including 191 men and 116 women. In May 1963 the figures were 154 men and 122 women out of work. Compared with last year, June unemployment showed improvement, with 230 men and 19 women registered then. In June, 1963 the service placed 138 people in jobs in Canberra.
