A Privy Council case opened in Melbourne could affect at least 2 million dollars in pending and future worker compensation claims in Victoria. The inquiry, tied to the Wahine disaster and broader compensation law issues, questions whether the liability should be governed by the law in operation at the time of injury or at the time of the claim. The ongoing proceedings involve discussions of employer liability, statutory reforms, and the potential impact on workers and unions.
