Bagdad Pact Support for Chamoun

Turkish Ambassador met President Chamoun at the Presidential palace in Beirut amid talks on Arab League and regional issues. Leaders from Moslem countries plan to meet on June 14 to discuss security, Lebanon, and Syria amid tensions in the nine weeks old uprising. A bomb blast at a Beirut department store killed at least one and injured many as glass and debris rained onto shoppers, with reports of a large explosion and ensuing fire. Lebanon pressed passive intervention claims against Syria while denying the need for foreign aid unless the crisis worsens.

Minister Denies Wheen Charges on Immigration Policy

Million Dollar Fire at Boston Pier Destroys Vessels and Barges

A Boston pier fire and series of explosions caused an estimated 1,000,000 dollars in damage plus 16,000 in losses.
