Reports from Cairo and London say Britain has intensified control over the French fleet as disarmament progresses in Alexandria. A French admiralty statement denounces alleged British aggression while claims of French vessel sinkings are contested.
An army communique details Western desert clashes near Capuzzo with destroyed enemy guns and equipment. Hull asserts the doctrine serves as self defense to preserve independence and integrity of the Americas.
The application window for the Children's Overseas Reception Scheme closed today pending further notice. England and Wales each received over 54,000 applications with officials reporting about 10,000 new applications daily. The government plans to requisition every ship departing England for America through August to evacuate children.

London reports the Petain Government has ordered the arrest of four journalists for spreading false views. The detainees are Madame Tabouls of L Oeuvre Pertinax Andre Giraud of Ordre Henri Dekerillis of L Epoque and Emile Bury of L Ordre, all now abroad.
Ulster Finance Minister Mrs WN Andrews told a Belfast audience that Ulster would stand with Britain until victory and oppose a united Ireland. He called proponents of a United Ireland disloyal and warned Eire would be safer by inviting British troops and naval protection.
The Ministry of Supply announces multi million pound orders for a wide range of war materials with the United States and Canada. Canada orders go directly to the Canadian Government while U S orders are handled by the British Purchasing Mission in the United States.
