Lorry Seized Under NSW Transport Act Action
State transport authorities in Sydney report seizure of a Wagga lorry for alleged breaches of the State Transport Co-ordination Act of 1931. Commissioner Maddocks notes several lorries had operated goods over 50 miles in NSW, competing with railways, despite licences. An injunction was obtained in 1935, and further seizures will follow to deter illegal operation and protect compliant operators.

Cafes and Hotels Tenders Forwarded for Government Review
Tenders for the Kingston and Civic Centre cafes and for the Hotel Canberra lease have been sent to the Minister for the Interior in Melbourne. Reports note strong competition for the cafes from Sydney and Melbourne brewers, while Hotel Canberra draws less interest. Built in 1924, the hotel cost 118,626 pounds, with furnishings at 23,720 pounds. Open verandahs require 48,004 pounds to render the site profitable, and staffing during peak periods poses challenges under current government controls. The tender calls for a building of at least 30 rooms and partial operation of residential hotels alongside the Kingston complex.
