Major changes target nine months for completion with retrenchments delayed two months until compensation reviews are finished. Lt-Gen Pollard assumes Chief of the General Staff succeeding Lt-Gen Sir Ragnar Garrett and outlines a recruitment drive for CMF and the Regular Army. Pollard, born 1903 in Bathurst, served across Europe, the Middle East, Ceylon and Papua, later holding key posts including chairman of the Joint Planning Committee and ADC to Queen Elizabeth II in 1952.
The 30th session of the International Wheat Council in London approved the budget for the 1960-61 crop year, the council announced today.
Canberra company arres tor Karl Schreiner plans to bring groups of boys from New Sumex for technical training at Canberra.
