U S Missile Research Boost Aims Skyward Satellite Recon

In a closed Senate testimony Major General Bernard Schriever disclosed plans to boost U S missile research. The Air Force could place a payload satellite in orbit and perform unmanned reconnaissance of the moon by adding a third stage to the Thor missile. The Navy unveiled two new light guided torpedoes Mark 43 and Mark 32 with unique deployment methods.

Migrants in Ashfield Bombing Terror Incident

A Hungarian migrant, 51, was injured and critical after three bombs exploded at a two storey Ashfield residence in Alt Street. Police described the blasts as domestic dispute related with bystanders and residents reporting multiple injuries and a heart attack among a 45 year old woman.

Public Fund For Lake Tragedy Victim Barry Lynch

A public appeal seeks funds for Barry Lynch age 13 the sole survivor of a family who perished in last Sundays boating tragedy on Lake George. His grandmother in Numeralla cannot fund his education. Soviet Sergeant Granted Asylum in Britain

Britain informed Soviet authorities in East Berlin that Soviet Army sergeant Anatoli Ponomarenko, who crossed into West Berlin after deserting on December 29 and injuring a comrade, has been granted asylum in Britain. Colonel J Kotsiuba, the Soviet deputy commander in East Berlin, said Moscow demands his return.

Bodies Recov at Lake Yell and Canberra family loss

After a drowning at Lake Yell, Bruce and Bill Smith of Canberra helped locate Brenda Anne Lynch, and an Army duck recovered Lynch’s body. Rae Lee Koopman remained missing while Mrs Hope Lynch and Christine were already buried. Fr. Michael O Riordan assisted recovery. The search covered a large area since Sunday night.
