Melbourne reports the first Commonwealth war loan opening soon with £18 million at par. Subscriptions may target £15 million for defence and works, offering options across currency terms and interest rates amid income tax relief for wartime measures.
The standing patrol stopped seaplane attacks and moved seaplane bases back into the Baltic. British raids off the British coast on January 29 30 and February 8 9 followed enemy reconnaissance on January 28 showing many fighters were out of service. At least six enemy planes were shot down during raids and an attack on a Shetland Islands ship caused no damage.
