Ernest Hubbard 44 a commercial traveller faced Darlinghurst Quarter Sessions charged with maliciously shooting at John Alfred Charles Horsley with intent to grievous bodily harm. Hubbard testified he fired three shots in self defence after Horsley tried to take a revolver from him. Horsley claimed he was attacked as Hubbard alleged infidelity. A witness Mnibbard said Horsley seized him by the throat. The jury acquitted Hubbard and discharged him.
Wellington dispatch reports Reuben Jepson ran into a burning Auckland suburb home, climbed the fire escape, carried his son through flames, and collapsed. Both father and child were rescued and admitted to hospital, unconscious, after the weekend fire.
Thomas Edward Warriss, 23, of Belmore, suffered a fractured leg and head injuries after an eightfloor fall in an air conditioning shaft at a building under construction for Amalgamated Wireless in York Street. He was found unconscious in a pool of blood.
