Swiss radio cites a German news agency saying German planes attacked a British convoy, sinking a 10,000 ton merchant ship and damaging three others. It also claims attacks off the Norfolk coast with one ship set afire.
In Sofia, M Soboleff from the Soviet Foreign Affairs Commissariat seeks Bulgaria's attitude as war looms. The Times correspondent notes Moscow may have proposed a military alliance two months earlier. Russia warns it cannot defend Bulgaria diplomatically if Sofia ignores proposals.
Allied forces push toward Tripoli within ten miles as Italian stronghold at Keren endures heavy bombardment. In Eritrea, Italian defenders endure air and land assaults with repeated counter attacks repulsed, and British aerial strikes target Italian positions near Asmara and Conder as refugees flee.
