Enormous South Vietnamese Arms Cache Revealed Near Saigon

Reports from Saigon describe the discovery of a massive arms cache 60 miles north of the city, including 15 anti aircraft machineguns on wheels, 200 2mm rockets, launchers, mortars, rifles, and other weapons. Fire destroys appliances at Malvern Star Civic store

A fire at Malvern Star Stores in Garema Place Civic damaged or destroyed electrical goods including television sets and washing machines. Police estimated losses at about 15000 dollars. Canberra Fire Brigade brought the blaze under control. Manager J Downie said the fire was confined to the one shop and the cause was not yet known.

Nineteen Die on NSW Roads Over Weekend Toll Rises

A Canberra woman, Vera Brush, 46, was among 19 killed on New South Wales roads this weekend, raising the annual toll to 121. The crash near Darlington Point involved Mr Brush and sculptor Ante Dabra, with no serious injuries to other occupants. Another fatality occurred on the Newcastle expressway near Gosford, and two more deaths were recorded in Cooma and Cootamundra as rain caused numerous accidents across the ACT district. In Melbourne, nine people died in weekend road crashes including Winston Boswell, 29, in Frankston, with his family injured.

Relief for NSW drought areas

Soaking rains swept NSW over the weekend easing drought in the Hunter Nepean Riverina and Maitland areas though Bega remained dry with only light rain.
