East Berlin police fired teargas grenades at West Berliners attempting to wave to relatives across the border. Dunedin solicitor Mr Ja Ward, 62, died in hospital six hours after a parcel exploded on his lapel. Police chief Bretcher said the killer may be a crank. Experts examined the scene on the building’s second floor in central Dunedin. Ward was taken to hospital with chest and head injuries from the blast.
