The United States plans to supply modern weapons including guided missiles to Europe under a developing agreement. The arms would reinforce troops in the alliance rather than substitute for them, reflecting a broader strategic understanding already shaping policy.
Group Captain Peter Townsend drove a Land Rover from Singapore to Johore through Malaya’s bandit area in eight and a half hours to meet his brother Brigadier Townsend. He said the journey was non-stop and incident free.
Union officials and Ford management reached an initiative agreement that York should resume production with the cause of the strike suspension to be discussed again. Government favors Jordan's wish to terminate the agreement as area no longer vital to British planning.
Vienna reports that Dr. Charles Havas and Dr. Janos Kados, noted Hungarian lawyers, agreed to defend four British students held on charges after entering Hungary from Yugoslavia. The public prosecutor refused to release information pending jurisdiction, while authorities allege forged passes and espionage links to a former revolutionary committee.
Three year old Roslyn Anne Burton of Darling Street Rozelle died at Children’s Hospital Zamperdown after nibbling baking paint for eight months. Her father John Burton 18 said the death may warn others. Doctors cited acute lead poisoning developed over time.
