Lorna Wilhelm aged 15 ran through smoke and flames to rescue a ten week old baby from a burning grandmother home in Adelaide. Her mother Edna Moura 28 and the infant were alighting and the baby’s dress caught fire. All three were hospitalized with severe burns. Lorna will be recommended for the Royal Humane Society award.
London Liverpool and Manchester faced heavy night raids as East Midlands and Mersey towns endured widespread fire and destruction. A family of eleven perished in Liverpool shelter damage, while reports say Coventry and Birkenhead suffered substantial hits and several fires erupted before dawn.
