Captain's Flat Girl Marries At Canberra

Kathleen Anne Donoghoe or Francis Benedict were married at St. Patrick's Church Braddon by Reverend Father Prendergast on Tuesday. The bride is the second daughter of Mrs Marie Donoghoe and the late Vivian Donoghoe of Captain Flat. The groom is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs James Brown Withirrow of South Coast. The bride wore white with pink sash and carried a bouquet of white and pink carnations. Attended by her sister as matron of honour, the couple left for their honeymoon after a reception at Hotel Ainslie Rex with about 40 guests.

Still no crew for freighter Macedon

In Sydney Sea men again refused to man the interstate freighter Macedon held up for five days as ship’s agents fail to secure a crew. Only one motor man volunteered, raising the crew to four, but 12 more are needed for the maiden voyage with a non Australian crew.

Neville James Kelly of 21st Street Narrabandsh sustained minor abrasions and a cut forehead when his car overturned at the intersection of Barralller and Lefroy Streets in Griffith late yesterday afternoon. The vehicle was extensively damaged.

Fire Threatens Buildings In Bush Off State Circle

A blaze near the High Commissioners Office on State Circle spread toward a hostel after a discarded lighted item. Firefighters from Canberra and volunteers fought the flames with hydrants and hoses, containing the fire within 20 to 300 acres before it was controlled in about 45 minutes.

Kingston traders to meet Union over Christmas Eve hours

Bomb scare belies calm escape on Paris bound air liner

An attempted bombing ripped a three foot hole in the fuselage of a Paris bound air liner from Oran but the crew and 89 passengers survived unharmed. The pilot of the Armag Mac aircraft landed safely.
