Three men in a battered green car robbed three council employees at the town hall pay office taking money from a wooden pay box. The raid ended in under a minute as police cordoned the area within five minutes but the car fled toward Burwood. Descriptions include an 18 year old, a 20 year old and a heavy set third man.

Melbourne report says a 31 year old man Otto Hausner of Kilferra Road Benalla died when a semi trailer crashed into his stationary utility on the Hume Highway six miles east of Benalla. He was fixing a racing mobile starting unit attached to the utility when the collision pinned him.
